How long until my LLC is official?

We submit the same day you order. After that it's in your state's hands — some approve in a day or two, others take a few weeks. We'll show you the typical timing for your state and email you the moment it's approved.

What's a registered agent and why do I need one?

Every LLC is required to have an address in its state where legal and government mail can be delivered during business hours. You can be your own — but that puts your home address on a public record and means you need to be available to sign. It's included with Premium, or you can add it to any plan for $199/yr, and your address stays private.

Do I need an EIN?

If you want a business bank account, plan to hire, or work with clients who send tax forms — yes. It's your business's ID number with the IRS. It's included in Pro and Premium so you don't have to set up another government account while you're already doing paperwork.

Which state should I form in?

For most people: the state where you live and do business. Forming somewhere "cheaper" usually backfires, because you still have to register in your home state — which means two filings and two annual fees. If your situation is unusual, talk to an accountant or attorney first.

Are you a law firm?

No — we're a filing service. We prepare and submit the documents your state requires, but we can't give legal or tax advice about your specific situation. For that, a lawyer or CPA is the right call, and a good one pays for itself.
